Seneca Creek State Park

Come to the park for a fun, 30-45 minute program for all ages. Meet a living snake or turtle and examine shells and skins from reptiles living in the park. Meet at the Nature Shack by the Tire Playground.

Autumn Pontoon Tour

Seneca Creek State Park

Take a relaxing, 45-minute afternoon boat ride on the pontoon boat, "Blue Heron." Come see the beautiful shades of autumn as the leaves begin to change around Clopper Lake. There is a small charge per person in addition to park entrance fees; meet at the Boat Center.

Tuesday Talk

Join speaker James H. Johnston for “Misplacing History: Rowser’s Ford” at the Beall-Dawson House in Rockville. During this free, lunchtime talk he will discuss Confederate General J.E.B. Stuart's crossing of the Potomac with 5,000 horsemen and subsequent ransacking of Montgomery County in 1863, and will solve the historical mystery of where the crossing really occurred.

Weekday Hike

Seneca Creek State Park

With the arrival of autumn, this weekly hike has moved from evenings to afternoons. This chance to get some fresh air and exercise consists of a 1.5 to 2 mile loop, with frequent stops for animal sightings, pant, animal and insect observations. Meet at the Park Office.

Tree ID Walk

Join the Seneca Creek State Park naturalist in identifying various tree species located around the Park Office, which is the meeting place.
