Seneca Creek State Park

This is a chance to get some fresh air and exercise after work. Hike a loop of between 1.5 and 2 miles, with frequent stops for animal sightings, plant, animal and insect observations. Meet at the Park Office.

Reptiles make up one of the most interesting groups of animals found in Patuxent River State Park. This will be a multimedia presentation to allow you to learn more about these varied and very unique animals. Meet at the Nature Center.

Stream Study

What's in the water? Look for crayfish, mayfly larvae, salamanders, and do some simple water quality tests in the Patuxent River. Closed-toe shoes or sturdy sandals that can get wet are recommended (no flip-flops, please). The activity will be cancelled if the water is high. Meet at the Nature Center.

Skulls and Skins: Bear Facts

For this special edition of "Skulls and Skins," the focus will be on a special creature: the bear. Learn the Bear Facts about Bears in Maryland and then learn about what bears eat. Act like a bear and gather "food" from the park. Meet at the Nature Shack by the Tire Playground.
