Following the American Civil War an integrated delegation of students from interconnected country road kinship communities of Brighton, Brookeville, Burtonsville, Colesville, Olney, Sandy Spring, Sunshine, Spencerville and White Oak in Montgomery County, Maryland attended Howard University.
Explore the unknown and lost history of Howard University’s deep connections to local communities of Montgomery County. Presentation by local and internationally known Douglassonian scholar, John Muller, author of Frederick Douglass in Washington, D.C.: The Lion of Anacostia (2012) and Mark Twain in Washington, D.C.: The Adventures of a Capital Correspondent (2013).
