Living History: Civil Rights Movement

History comes alive at the Sandy Spring Slave Museum! The Living Museum: Civil Rights Movement will take you on a journey through time. Meet the men and women throughout history who fought for civil rights, equality and justice for all. Each character will come to life and talk about what inspired them to take a stand or a knee.

Meet Nelson Mandela, Cesar Chavez, Angela Davis, Bayard Rustin, Eleanor Roosevelt, Daisy Bates, Andrew Goodman, Jessie Jackson, Gloria Steinem, Colin Kaepernick and many more. Watch a dramatic performance of the famous poem “Ballad of Birmingham” by Washington native and famed poet Dudley Randall.

Performance times are Saturday at 11:00 am and 3:00 pm and Sunday at 3:00 pm. Tickets can be purchased here.
