Overview
This part-time, up to 32-hour-per-week position is located in Germantown, MD. Heritage Montgomery (HM) is a State and county supported nonprofit, one of 13 State-certified heritage areas overseen by the Maryland Historical Trust. Our organization represents over 70 county parks, museums, and sites highlighting the area’s history, culture, and natural resources.
This position supports HM’s mission of preserving and promoting these resources and fostering stewardship through economic development focusing on tourism.
Job Description
This position supports the efforts of the Executive Director by managing the grant programs offered to our partners and grant applications made by Heritage Montgomery, a small, very visible, highly professional organization. This includes but is not limited to writing and submitting State and county grants (3 to 4 per annum), tracking funds and reports, managing our local grant programs (10-15 per annum), providing technical support to applicants, interfacing with partners, and other duties, as needed.
Additionally, this position may provide general writing and editing support, as needed.
Background Requirements – Bachelors Degree. Three to five years experience grant writing and management in a non-profit environment.
Required Job Skills
Excellent organizational skills; detail oriented
Knowledge and use of professional office standards
Excellent knowledge of Macintosh computers and Microsoft Word
Working knowledge of Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook, Gmail.
Ability to multi task, self direct, and work well in a seasonally fast-paced environment
Ability to lift 30 lbs., climb stairs, and visit indoor and outdoor sites
Professional and friendly demeanor
Ability to work occasional weekends and evenings
Willingness and ability to learn new skills
Ability to work collegially in a small, shared office space
Pay commensurate with experience.
