The John Poole House, the oldest building in Poolesville, is a one-room log trading post built in 1793 that was enlarged several times; in 1810 it served as the area’s first post office. The general store museum is historically furnished based on early records and includes exhibits and a museum shop. The adjacent E.L. Stock, Jr. Memorial Arboretum features trees, bushes, herbs, and perennials indigenous to pre-1850 western Montgomery County. A property of the Historic Medley District.
