Heritage Montgomery has announced the results of its FY24 Mini-Grant application round. The Mini-Grant program supports nonprofit organizations and local government entities that contribute to preserving, promoting, and interpreting the unique history, culture, and natural areas of the county.

Grants of up to $2,500 are awarded annually for heritage tourism projects that support local economies, drive tourism, and share the unique history of our region. Heritage Montgomery awarded $14,775 to seven projects this year.

Congratulations to the following organizations who received funding:

• Town of Brookeville: $2,150 for the installation of a new sign directing visitors to parking.
• Glen Echo Park Partnership for Arts and Culture, Inc.: $1,025 for a brochure that highlights the county’s heritage sites and links to Heritage Montgomery’s video library.
• King Barn Dairy MOOseum: $2,500 for new tires for their Divco Milk Delivery Truck.
• Poolesville Area Chamber of Commerce: $1,600 for outdoor tourism maps and map holders.
• Riverworks Art Center, Inc.: $2,500 for a community roundtable project about the Indigenous people of the Potomac Piedmont.
• Sandy Spring Museum: $2,500 to create a searchable online database for the museum’s artifact collection.
• Smithville School Museum and Education Center: $2,500 for safety fencing around the property.
• Warren Historic Site: $2,500 for repairs to the church’s interior.

These grant projects leveraged $14,027 in additional investment from other sources, doubling the impact of Heritage Montgomery’s investment.

The FY25 Mini-Grant Program will open for applications in August 2024. More information can be found here.

Heritage Area partners can also apply for an MHAA grant for up to $50,000 for non-capital projects and up to $100,000 for capital projects. This grant round will open in January – click here for more information.
