Traverse the trail with the help of stars and moonlight while learning which plants were helpful along the journey. DESCRIPTION:What began as a 3-acre land patent in 1720 eventually grew to a 114-acre community center for the farmers to grind corn\, saw timber\, visit the local blacksmith for a repair\, and witness the power of the milling technology that earned Valley Mill its recognition as Maryland’s leading producer of corn meal in 1850. Visitors will see ruins of the mill\, learn about the archaeological excavations\, and enjoy a short hike along the stream. Free.

In this dynamic program\, kids will dive into the skills and crafts of the past as they explore a variety of traditional hands-on activities. From wood carving and leather working to paper making\, basket weaving and more\, each session offers a new opportunity for young crafters to learn\, create and connect with history in a tangible way. Guided by engaging instructors\, participants will gain confidence as they work with real tools and materials – experiencing firsthand how everyday items were crafted long before modern technology. Each session brings a fresh project and a chance to explore a different historical technique. \n\n\n\nGet ready to explore the history of sustainable jewelry and art through this Victorian paper beads program! Students will learn how people in the past used a new way of repurposing to create beautiful art. In this class\, students will use paper to create extraordinary beads that can be used for a variety of art such as jewelry\, decorations\, key chains\, and more! \n\nThis is a drop-off program\, but parents are welcome to hang around the Farm Park during the class.
