What can HM do for you?
Visitors
For our visitors, Heritage Montgomery’s goal is to connect you to recreational, educational, heritage, and community programs, tours, and sites. Let HM be your guide to exploring Montgomery County – for a day, a weekend, or longer! Our new website guides you through over 40 sites, offering trip ideas, planning tips, plus full details of places to visit – from hours, directions, and programming to added history of the site or area, calendar of events, and more. Let Heritage Montgomery help you plan your visit – whether it’s hiking or cycling the C&O Canal or trails deeper in the county, enjoying farm-to-fork offerings in the Agricultural Reserve, antiquing and sightseeing, or exploring local history sites, programs, and special events throughout the county.
Partners
For our partners we offer a one-stop resource for the things you need to help make and keep your site great. Our partners toolbox provides original content and links to state-of-the-art information on such subjects as interpretation – planning, design, mediums, visitor accessibility – emergency and hazard mitigation, ADA guidelines, and links to National Park Service toolboxes addressing a wide variety of topics including signage and interpretation standards. Heritage Montgomery is here to help answer your questions from how to organize and manage your gift shop, to where to have signage or exhibits fabricated, to determining the need for an emergency plan for your collections.
Teachers
For educators we offer a full guide to heritage area partners’ school educational resources. This includes locating and planning field trips that meet county educational standards, educational opportunities that enhance your classroom offerings, links to lesson plans and research resources, transportation arrangements, and extracurricular programs for students including the HM-supported Quince Orchard Project African American History program associated with the Pleasant View Historic Site in Gaithersburg. Our website is also a great place for home schoolers to find and connect to the county’s resources.
